After Jesus met Zacchaeus at the sycamore tree, He said He had come “to seek and save (Greek.: “Sozo” – restore/ make whole/ heal) what was lost” (Luke 19:10). Jesus commissions His followers, His Church, to do the same.
The Sycamore Commission is a growing international teaching and equipping ministry committed to the support and reformation of the Church. Founded and directed by Mike and Cindy Riches, Sycamore along with its associates and partners ministers in many nations in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and North America.
Sycamore ministers to churches, church leaders, and individual Christians to bring about a restoration of the power and ministry of Jesus to lives, ministries, and communities around the world.
The Sycamore Commission was born in an effort to help the Church recover and live out Jesus’ mission statement as found, in His own words, in Luke 4:18-19:
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
We believe strongly that Jesus intended for this mission to continue with His disciples both then and now (see John 14:12 and 17:18,20). The focus of our ministry, therefore, is to serve the Body of Christ by helping church leaders, churches, and individual Christians understand, fully recover, and live out the powerful, life-changing, Kingdom-advancing ministry of Jesus Christ!
